Austin, Texas - USA - July 16th, 2002
To assist customers in product engineering design, Motorola,
Inc. (NYSE:MOT) has established the Design Alliance, a
worldwide network of third-party developers working with
Motorola’s embedded solutions. Members of the Alliance enjoy
privileged access to a wealth of Motorola’s Semiconductor
Products Sector (SPS) technical information, resources, training
and discounted tools to help their customers design in
Motorola’s embedded technology.
When the semiconductor industry rebound occurs, original
equipment manufacturers will increasingly outsource significant
elements of their design activity to third parties as they drive
to reduce the time – and cost – of their product development
cycle. These alliances with leading consulting engineers and
third-party design firms like Pleiades will enable Motorola’s
customers to quickly connect with a high level of experienced
design resources - and truly accelerate their time to market.
Motorola has received substantial interest in the Design
Alliance program from several distributor partners and many of the
industry’s leading developers, such as Pleiades, Celestica,
Flextronics Design, Force Computers and Solectron, and
expects to add them to the Alliance during the launch phase. Their
global presence in the industry and deep reach into the design
engineering community has the potential to offer significant
design expertise to all of Motorola’s original equipment
manufacturer customers.
Pleiades, an early program participant, is already reaping the
rewards of this new initiative. Members can expect greater access
to the technical resources they need, enabling Pleiades to
further differentiate their services. In addition to new
business, Design Alliance members gain global exposure through SPS'
high-profile web presence, which was recently ranked as “#1
Useful Web Site” in the 2002 EE Times Embedded Brand
Study.
